Thus says the Lord: “Behold, what I have built I will break down, and what I have planted I will pluck up, that is, this whole land. And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I will bring adversity on all flesh.” Jeremiah 45:4-5
Dear God, it is so natural to seek great things, so natural to look out for number one. There it is, the root of the problem. I am not number one. Holy God, you know me better than I know myself, and love me anyway. By your Spirit, grant me a clearer vision of just who you are. Alpha and Omega. First and the Last. Number One.
