{"id":58,"date":"2009-01-10T23:40:24","date_gmt":"2009-01-11T02:40:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oldsandals.net\/?p=58"},"modified":"2009-01-11T11:12:14","modified_gmt":"2009-01-11T14:12:14","slug":"like-and-unlike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.oldsandals.net\/?p=58","title":{"rendered":"Like and unlike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>God is unlike us.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>God is self-sufficient.\u00a0 (Acts 17:24-26, 1 Cor 8:6)<br \/>\nGod is the Creator.\u00a0 (Genesis 1:1)<br \/>\nGod had no beginning.\u00a0 (Psalm 90:2)<br \/>\nGod has no end.\u00a0 (Psalm 102:27)<br \/>\nGod is all-powerful.\u00a0 (Isaiah 46:10)<br \/>\nGod is omniscient. (Psalm 139, Matthew 10:30,\u00a0Acts 27:21-25)<\/p>\n<p>But, even more important, God is holy and righteous.\u00a0 Perfect.\u00a0 Awesome.\u00a0 His name is above all names.<\/p>\n<p>God is love\u00a0 His love is unconditional and sacrificial. (John 3:16, Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:7,8)<\/p>\n<p>And because God is also unchanging (Hebrews 13:8), the love that He has for us today is still the kind of love that John 3:16 talks about.<\/p>\n<p>If that Bible verse\u00a0really means something to us, we should have\u00a0a holy desire to live for God and to pattern our lives after His character.\u00a0 This desire is not natural to us, because we are <em>by\u00a0nature<\/em> sinners.\u00a0\u00a0 Rather, it is supernatural, brought about by a new birth, as it were, into the kingdom of God.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>God is unlike us.
