“Although the light of nature, and the works of creation and providence do so far manifest the goodness, wisdom, and power of God”<\/em><\/p>\n The Psalmist sings that “the heavens declare the glory of God”. (Psalm 19:1) \u00a0 Creation indeed reveals the glory and the wisdom of God; it reveals to all, as the Apostle Paul writes, His “eternal power and Godhead”. These things are “clearly seen”, so that all “are without excuse”. (Romans 1:20)<\/p>\n That creation, by itself, also reveals the goodness of God is not self-evident. Although the wonderful beauty of a sunset, the brilliant color of a flower and the abundant natural resources everywhere available quietly testify to God’s goodness on display in creation, violent storms, massive earthquakes and destructive fires and floods shout loudly in opposition.<\/p>\n “Oh, that\u00a0men\u00a0would give thanks\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0Lord\u00a0for\u00a0His\u00a0goodness, and\u00a0for\u00a0His wonderful works\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0children\u00a0of\u00a0men!” (Psalm 107:8) \u00a0This cry of the Psalmist is a prayer that men would do what they ought to do—give thanks to the Lord for His goodness. \u00a0This prayer springs from a heart rejoicing in God’s faithfulness to and providential care for His (fallen) creation. \u00a0It does not spring from a purely intellectual analysis of things as they are.<\/p>\n Things as they are. \u00a0A fallen world, filled with mixed messages. \u00a0God is good, and His goodness is ultimately revealed in His Son, Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Of the Holy Scripture “Although the light of nature, and the works of creation and providence do so far manifest the goodness, wisdom, and power of God” The Psalmist sings that “the heavens declare the glory of God”.
