{"id":3211,"date":"2013-11-22T08:06:00","date_gmt":"2013-11-22T12:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oldsandals.net\/?p=3211"},"modified":"2013-11-22T10:18:00","modified_gmt":"2013-11-22T14:18:00","slug":"the-holy-loving-reason","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.oldsandals.net\/?p=3211","title":{"rendered":"The holy, loving reason"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Romans 1:18<\/em><br \/>\n<em>For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We certainly fall off the theological horse if we talk about God\u2019s hatred for sin but fail to articulate the holy, loving reason for it. \u201cI, the Lord, am a jealous God\u201d, not \u201cI, the Lord, am a vengeful God\u201d (although vengeance does belong to Him).<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, as Bob Stamps (the chaplain at ORU when I was there back in the day) used to say, we don\u2019t follow \u201can icky-sweet Jesus\u201d. The same disciple who leaned on Jesus\u2019 breast in the gospel of John fell at Jesus\u2019 feet as dead in the book of the Revelation.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps that notable theologian, Mr. Beaver. should weigh in here: \u201cSafe? Who said anything about safe? He isn\u2019t safe, but He\u2019s good.
