{"id":2868,"date":"2013-03-30T08:16:50","date_gmt":"2013-03-30T12:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oldsandals.net\/?p=2868"},"modified":"2013-04-07T08:28:17","modified_gmt":"2013-04-07T12:28:17","slug":"all-we-can-do","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.oldsandals.net\/?p=2868","title":{"rendered":"All we can do"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>So Jesus stood still and called [to the two blind men]&#8230;, \u201cWhat do you want Me to do for you?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>They said to Him, \u201cLord, that our eyes may be opened.\u201d\u00a0<sup>\u00a0<\/sup>So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.\u00a0\u00a0 Matthew 20: 32-34<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;<\/em>That our eyes may be opened.&#8221;\u00a0 The two blind men did not leave that day thinking highly of themselves because they had begged for mercy.\u00a0 To the Lord alone be the glory!\u00a0 Yet they <em>did<\/em> beg for mercy.\u00a0 They were not totally passive in what happened to them.\u00a0 They were not struck with sight, they received sight, according to their humble request.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s all we can do, really.\u00a0 We can receive the gift.\u00a0 But it is ours to do.\u00a0 God does not do that for us.\u00a0 Even though His grace makes it possible for us to receive the gift in the first place, we are not robots; our choice is somehow involved.\u00a0 &#8220;By grace are you saved, through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God&#8221;, the apostle Paul writes.\u00a0 Very true.\u00a0 We somehow choose to receive <em>that<\/em> gift also.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So Jesus stood still and called [to the two blind men]&#8230;, \u201cWhat do you want Me to do for you?\u201d They said to Him, \u201cLord, that our eyes may be opened.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes.
