His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.\u00a0<sup>\u00a0<\/sup>And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.\u00a0<sup>\u00a0<\/sup>Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, \u201cLord, it is good for us to be here. If You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.\u201d\u00a0 <\/em><em>While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, \u201cThis is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Matthew 17: 1-5<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is what the Eastern Orthodox would call the Uncreated Light.\u00a0 It certainly was that.\u00a0 The Uncreated condescending to the created.\u00a0 The Light shining forth in the darkness.\u00a0 As Clement of Alexandria exclaimed all those centuries ago, &#8220;But He who is far off has&#8212;oh ineffable marvel!&#8212;come very near&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves;\u00a0\u00a0and He was transfigured before them.
