While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>Then one said to Him, \u201cLook, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

But He answered and said to the one who told Him, \u201cWho is My mother and who are My brothers?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, \u201cHere are My mother and My brothers!\u00a0For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Matthew 12:46-50<\/em><\/p>\n

Many claim\u00a0this scripture proves that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was nobody special.\u00a0 For Jesus did not say to the multitudes, “Oh, wait, I need to speak with Mom, and then I’ll be right back!”\u00a0 How unseemly that would have been!<\/p>\n

And yet, when Jesus stretched out His hand toward his disciples, we rightly imagine that Mary was included in that gesture, for she was certainly devout, and had\u00a0“treasured up these things in her heart” for years and years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
