Behold and see If there is any sorrow like my sorrow, which has been brought on me, which the Lord has inflicted In the day of His fierce anger.\u00a0\u00a0 Lamentations 1:12<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Although the world can barely\u00a0 contain the volume of scholarly books written about the cross of Jesus Christ, it is not primarily, nor should it be, a subject for academic inquiry.\u00a0 The death of the Son of God on a Roman cross is rather something to reverently behold.\u00a0 Behold and see, with the eyes of faith.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>God is certainly speaking to us all the time, but He speaks most forcefully out of the stillness, at those times and in those places when the other &#8220;noises&#8221; of life have been quieted.\u00a0 When the jeering had stopped, when the gawking crowds had largely dispersed, when the garments had been gambled away&#8212;it was then the centurion was able to stop, look and listen.\u00a0 And his response simply but forcefully sums up all the writings in all the scholarly books when he said, &#8220;Surely, this man was the Son of God.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Is it\u00a0 nothing to you, all you who pass by?
