{"id":1772,"date":"2012-06-17T16:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-06-17T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oldsandals.net\/?p=1772"},"modified":"2012-06-18T09:41:48","modified_gmt":"2012-06-18T13:41:48","slug":"joel-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.oldsandals.net\/?p=1772","title":{"rendered":"(2 Chronicles 25) Locked in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>But Amaziah would not heed,\u00a0 for it\u00a0came\u00a0from God, that He might give them into the hand\u00a0of their enemies,\u00a0 because they sought the gods of Edom.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Some might read this verse and conclude that\u00a0Amaziah did not have anything to do with his rebellious attitude.\u00a0 Amaziah was just a puppet, so to speak, for &#8220;it came from God.&#8221;\u00a0By extension then, none of us are <em>really<\/em> choosing for or against God.\u00a0 It only seems that we are.\u00a0 Just how it is that we can be held responsible for choices that we, in fact, did not make is an unexplainable mystery.<\/p>\n<p>But such a conclusion must be faulty, because it drives us into a theological ditch.\u00a0 The Bible holds out two truths &#8211; God&#8217;s sovereignty and man&#8217;s responsibility.\u00a0\u00a0These two truths must be understood incarnationally, i.e., in the same way we understand that Jesus Christ was fully human, and that\u00a0he was also fully God.<\/p>\n<p>Amaziah&#8217;s heart turned against the Lord. But his rebellion did not take the Lord by surprise.\u00a0 The Lord is longsuffering, but\u00a0there\u00a0came a point\u00a0where the Lord said, &#8220;Enough!&#8221;, and locked in Amaziah&#8217;s rebellion, so to speak, in order that the judgement of God of might fall on His wayward people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>But Amaziah would not heed,\u00a0 for it\u00a0came\u00a0from God, that He might give them into the hand\u00a0of their enemies,\u00a0 because they sought the gods of Edom.
