{"id":1755,"date":"2012-06-10T08:39:39","date_gmt":"2012-06-10T12:39:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oldsandals.net\/?p=1755"},"modified":"2012-06-14T08:16:43","modified_gmt":"2012-06-14T12:16:43","slug":"obadiah-chosen-to-prophesy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.oldsandals.net\/?p=1755","title":{"rendered":"(Obadiah) Chosen to prophesy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><em>Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom&#8230;the pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; you who say in your heart, \u2018Who will bring me down to the ground?\u2019\u00a0Though you ascend as high as the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,\u201d says the Lord.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to the Talmud, Obadiah is said to have been a convert to Judaism from\u00a0Edom, a descendant of Eliphaz,\u00a0 the friend of Job. He is identified with the Obadiah who was the servant of Ahab, who hid the hundred prophets from the persecution of Jezebel.<\/p>\n<p>It is said\u00a0that he was chosen to prophesy against Edom because he was himself an Edomite.
