(Psalm 31) Anguish

“You care about the anguish of my soul.”

Anguish. Lonely. Isolated. Beat down. Cutoff. Unloved. Uncared for. Disregarded. Passed over. Forgotten. Worthless.

And yet none of these because of the grace of God.

(Psalm 28) Divine oxymoron

“Do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you are silent, I might as well give up and die.”

How can an omniscient God turn a deaf ear to anyone?

The infinite God is a personal God. This divine oxymoron is exactly what is revealed to us in the scriptures.

To say simply that God is infinite is not to understand Him. To say simply that God is personal is not to understand Him. To say that He is both is to begin to understand Him.

(Psalm 27) That conversation

My heart has heard you say, “Come…” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”

The voice of the LORD is something only your heart can hear. It is not a loud, boisterous voice. It is easily drowned out by all the other voices that fill the air.

It is more like an inner tug or pull in Heaven’s direction. Hard to define but unmistakable. “Come”.

“LORD, I am coming” is the response only your heart can make. A daily, intentional response.

Are you having that conversation?

(Psalm 26) Our walk

“Now I stand on solid ground…”

When you’re standing on solid ground, you can take the next step with confidence. You don’t have to fear that you might slip.

This is how our walk with the LORD should be.

(Psalm 23) Priceless

“Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life.”

What an antecdote for depression!

This verse is either wishful thinking or ultimate reality. The former is worthless; the later is priceless.

(Psalm 22) Rock bottom

“My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away when I groan for help?…O LORD, do not stay far away! You are my strength…”

Always remember that even when you’re at rock bottom, there is still a Rock underneath.
