(Psalm 38) It is all you

“For I am waiting for you, O LORD. You must answer for me, O Lord my God.”

For David, it wasn’t, “Well, if he answers, fine, and if he doesn’t answer, fine.” You must answer. My hopes and dreams, my reason for living, my reality –it’s all you, Lord, it is all you.

(Psalm 37) Pray about everything

“The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand.”

He delights in every detail. If this is so, we ought to pray about everything, big and small.

(Psalm 31) Anguish

“You care about the anguish of my soul.”

Anguish. Lonely. Isolated. Beat down. Cutoff. Unloved. Uncared for. Disregarded. Passed over. Forgotten. Worthless.

And yet none of these because of the grace of God.

(Psalm 28) Divine oxymoron

“Do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you are silent, I might as well give up and die.”

How can an omniscient God turn a deaf ear to anyone?

The infinite God is a personal God. This divine oxymoron is exactly what is revealed to us in the scriptures.

To say simply that God is infinite is not to understand Him. To say simply that God is personal is not to understand Him. To say that He is both is to begin to understand Him.

(Psalm 27) That conversation

My heart has heard you say, “Come…” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”

The voice of the LORD is something only your heart can hear. It is not a loud, boisterous voice. It is easily drowned out by all the other voices that fill the air.

It is more like an inner tug or pull in Heaven’s direction. Hard to define but unmistakable. “Come”.

“LORD, I am coming” is the response only your heart can make. A daily, intentional response.

Are you having that conversation?

(Psalm 26) Our walk

“Now I stand on solid ground…”

When you’re standing on solid ground, you can take the next step with confidence. You don’t have to fear that you might slip.

This is how our walk with the LORD should be.
